Dr. Rathod was invited by Smt. Dakshaben Pathak Memorial to educate masses on the ‘Role of Endoscopy in Gastrointestinal Problems’ at SNDT college auditorium hall, Matunga. The lecture was a part of the college’s lecture series for women and health where they arrange lectures on important topics that require awareness and advice from eminent personalities in the medical fraternity.

The one hour session was made interactive by Dr. Rathod where audience members raised their doubts related to many important aspects of Endoscopy and its practices. Dr. Rathod addressed the huge audience of 300 people with audio-video case capsules which he had treated with Endoscopy and Endoscopy Ultrasound. The audience consisted of students, teachers, non-teaching staff and members of Lions group.

Dr. Rathod began with explanation of the basics of Human Digestive System and how dietary habits as well as lifestyle can become instrumental in inviting diseases. He educated the audience with proper approach towards the diseases with video presentations.

The lecture proved very useful for the audience. There was a long interaction between audience and Dr. Rathod in relation to Gastrointestinal diseases and importance of Endoscopy. Some commonly asked question during the session consisted of:1. Whether endoscopy could be performed on kids?

2. Are the scopes cleaned before and after a procedure?

3. Can a pregnant lady undergo an Endoscopy?

4. At what age does one need to undergo an endoscopic evaluation?

Dr. Rathod satisfactorily answered their doubts and accepted requests for more educative sessions like these in future.
